Privacy Policy

FitnessFam ("we", "us") provides an AI-powered fitness coaching service delivered by text message and a companion iOS app. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We designed FitnessFam to collect only what we need to coach you well.

Information we collect

• Account & profile: your mobile phone number, name, username, and the fitness details you provide (sex, birth date, height, weight, goals, activity level, dietary restrictions, and optional city/neighborhood for finding local groups).
• Health & activity: meals, workouts, and - if you connect Apple Health - steps, active energy, and body weight. We only read Health data you authorize; we never write to Apple Health.
• Messages: the content of the texts you exchange with your coach, including photos of meals you choose to send, so we can estimate nutrition and respond.
• Contacts (optional): if you use "Find friends", your device sends phone numbers from your contacts to our server only to match who is already on FitnessFam. We do not store your contacts, and we never message anyone without your explicit action.
• Subscription: purchases are processed by Apple. We receive your subscription status and tier, not your full payment details.
• Technical: basic logs (timestamps, error diagnostics, rate-limit counters) needed to operate and secure the service.

How we use your information

• To deliver personalized coaching, nutrition estimates, and daily summaries.
• To power social features you opt into: friends, groups, the feed, achievements, invites, and referrals.
• To process subscriptions and enforce fair-use limits.
• To keep the service safe (abuse prevention, blocking/reporting, rate limiting).

How your information is protected

Sensitive data is encrypted at rest, and traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to production systems is restricted. While no system is perfectly secure, we take reasonable measures to safeguard your data.

Service providers we share with

We share the minimum necessary with vendors who help us run FitnessFam, each bound to handle data on our behalf:

• OpenAI - processes message and meal content to generate coaching and nutrition estimates.
• Twilio - sends and receives the text messages.
• Apple - sign-in and subscription billing.
• Amazon Web Services - secure cloud hosting and storage.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app (Profile → Delete account), which permanently removes your profile, logs, and social activity. You may also email us to request deletion.

Your choices

• Decline or revoke Health and Contacts permissions in iOS Settings at any time.
• Reply STOP to any text to opt out of SMS.
• Request access to or deletion of your data by emailing us.

Children

FitnessFam is intended for users 17 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
